Objective:
The youth pastor will bring vision and enthusiasm to the church’s teen ministry, reflecting its vision, mission, and core values. The youth pastor must have a relationship with Jesus as Savior and Lord that is evident in their character, whether on or off the job. The youth pastor must be a team leader who can work compassionately with others, guiding them to succeed in their ministry to teens and encouraging them in their walk with Jesus.
This position is a salaried role requiring at least 30 hours per week. Attendance at Sunday morning worship services is expected.
Experience and Knowledge Required:
The Youth Pastor will have the gifting and heart of a shepherd and will have been part of an evangelical community of believers for at least 5 years. A Bachelor’s degree in youth ministry from an accredited Christian university is preferred. A solid understanding of Biblical Theology from a conservative evangelical perspective is required.
Functions and Responsibilities:
- Plans and conducts a weekly teen ministry meeting.
- Visits teens in their homes and, when able, attends school functions for which they participate.
- Prepares the annual budget for the youth ministry and is responsible for keeping expenditures aligned with the budget.
- Prays for and provides spiritual care for youth team members under the guidance of the pastoral team and board of Elders.
- Attends regular staff meetings.

- Must be a follower/disciple of Jesus Christ who seeks to make Disciples of Christ.
- Embody what it means to follow Christ and live a life of worship.
- Must be in complete agreement with Clayton Baptist’s Statement of Faith and constitutional covenant, vision, and core values.
- Must maintain church membership in good standing.
- Must give evidence of a spiritually balanced life (prayer, Bible study, rest, worship, financial stewardship)
- Must possess a spiritual maturity to work in a ministry setting and be able to disciple, love, and care for the members of the worship team.
