An Ordination Council was convened October 21st by Grace Baptist Church to examine Associate Pastor Chris Mellon for his readiness to be ordained.  Chris and his wife Bri have been attending GBC for 13 years, and for a number of those years, he as Worship Director.

Senior Pastor Greg Funk, as endorsing Pastor and church, hosted 8 area pastors and some of his own elders to participate in Chris’ examination, for nearly 3 hours.  The Council’s recommendation to the church was an enthusiastic – and unanimous – decision for ordination.  I was invited as the VCNMA representative, and have to say that I’ve rarely seen such a well-planned and run Ordination Council.  Further, I have rarely seen such a well-prepared candidate.  Finally, Pastor Greg, candidate Chris, and GBC Elders should be commended for putting together an excellent Prep Team for Chris Mellon, who by the time you read this, will officially be the Rev. Chris Mellon.
